Sodium carbonate

Soda, which is the brand name of sodium carbonate, is a chemical substance with the chemical formula Na2CO3. which has different applications in different industrial sectors. Sodium carbonate has two classifications.

Sodium Carbonate (Soda ash)

with the brand name Soda Ash about sodium carbonate

Sodium carbonate production methods

Sodium Carbonate with chemical formula of Na2CO3, also known as Soda Salt
– Soda Ash
– Soda Crystals
and Washing Soda, is one of the most important and most useful industrial chemicals which has a vast variety of applications.

Dehydrated Sodium Carbonate with commercial name of “Soda Ash”, is usually produced by »Solvay «
method in industrial scale. In this method Sodium Carbonate is produced from Limestone (Calcium Carbonate), Ammonia and Sodium Chloride. Other production methods are known as: «Lelanc» and «Hou »
Process.

This substance is manufactured in two types including Light Sodium Carbonate and Heavy Sodium Carbonate which can be used in production of Glass and Glassware, Chemicals (Baking Soda, Sodium Silicate, etc.), Water Treatment, Heavy Metals Extraction and many other uses.

50% of all the production of this substance is used in glass and glassware manufacturing, 18% for chemicals, 10% for producing soap and detergents and the rest is used in other industries.

This product is also known as soda ash.
The quality and production standards of light and heavy sodium carbonate (especially iron in the final product) can be changed according to the customer’s needs. This product is ready to be offered in packages of 50/750/1000/1200 kg

Applications of sodium carbonate

The most important and main use of this material is in the production of glass. A maximum temperature of 2000 degrees Celsius is required to melt pure silica, so most producers save fuel costs by mixing raw sand with 18% soda ash (Na2CO3). The added carbonate lowers the melting point. and helps to form the glass better, but the added sodium causes the silica to dissolve slowly in water. Adding about 10% of limestone (CaCO3) makes the glass more resistant due to the presence of calcium.

Applications of light sodium carbonate

This product is widely used in chemical industries, water treatment, metallurgy, paper making, printing and dyeing, synthetic detergents, petrochemical, It is used in food, medicine and hygiene, etc.
